KS2 Crime and Punishment

The event
Meet a prisoner from the Castle's past and learn about Norwich Castle's centuries as a county gaol. Handle real and replica punishment objects, visit our newly redesigned dungeons, take part in a crime scene investigation (CSI) session and go on a teacher-led Crime and Punishment trail throughout the museum.
Aims and learning outcomes
- 'Inspire pupils' curiosity about the past...whilst equipping them to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments and develop perspective and judgement.' (History Programmes of Study 2014)
- To raise awareness of how we find out about the past.
- Engage children with museum objects as sources of inspiration, knowledge and exploration.
- Expand children's understanding of the changes in crime and punishment from the Anglo-Saxon period to the modern day.
