The event
Norfolk was once part of the lands of the Celtic Iceni tribe, but everything changed in 43AD, when the Romans invaded the country. The Romans fought with many tribes and won many battles - but they did not fight the Iceni. The Iceni made peace and agreed to pay a tax to Rome. However, in 60AD, the Iceni rebelled...
Explore Roman and Iceni life with costumed characters:
- With a Roman soldier, learn about Roman armour and weapons
- Get to grips with real and replica objects with a Romanised Iceni
- Explore the Boudica and the Romans gallery with a museum curator
- Make your own torcs with an archaeologist.
Aims and learning outcomes:
- Handle real and replica Roman objects and understand how they were used and where they belong.
- Develop awareness of different ways of life in the past.
- Meet costumed characters who bring the past to life.
