- The external lift will be closed on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 November. (Lifts inside the museum are not affected)
- The pavement in front of the hoardings on Castle Meadow will be closed on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 November (this is just the section of Castle Meadow where there is currently panelling on the ground)
Access routes to Norwich Castle Art Gallery and Museum - 18 November to 3 December
Step-free route from Castle Meadow via Farmers Avenue
From Castle Meadow walk towards the Bell Hotel. Turn up the hill on your left (Farmers Avenue.) You can enter Castle Gardens through a gate on the corner of Castle Meadow and Farmers Avenue. You can then cross the footbridge to arrive at the museum. (You can also enter Castle Gardens from opposite the entrance to Vue cinema.)
Step-free route from Market Avenue
From Market Avenue, enter Castle Gardens and take the zigzag slopes up the hill (on your left, before you get to the bridge) until you reach Castle Green. Then cross the footbridge to arrive at the museum.
External lift
The routes described above are step-free, but the footbridge is quite steep.
To reach the entrance avoiding the footbridge, enter Castle Gardens from Market Avenue. Follow the route along the hoardings to the external lift.
Please note the external lift will be closed on 25th/26th November.
Visitor drop-off/pick-up
You can drive up to the museum entrance for visitor drop-off/pick-up in a car or minibus only. The route is via Farmers Avenue and the Castle Gardens entrance opposite Vue Cinema. Please note that there is no parking on site.
